ARC–GSSP Scholarship Programme

Be a citizen of an African Union Member State. Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in fields such as actuarial science, disaster risk management, mathematics, statistics, engineering, environmental management or a related discipline. Apply for an eligible full-time postgraduate programme. Meet the admission requirements of the selected partner university. Have secured, or be in the process of obtaining, admission to an eligible programme at a partner university. Meet all other scholarship requirements. Commit to working in Africa for two years after graduation. Complete an internship, in accordance with the programme requirements.

About the ARC–GSSP Scholarship Programme

The programme's goal is to prepare future leaders who can develop and implement African solutions to the continent's unique climate challenges.

Who is Eligible?

The programme seeks talented African students with a strong academic background and the potential to contribute significantly to Africa’s resilience and risk management capacity. Applicants must meet specific criteria:

• Be a citizen of an African Union Member State.
• Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in fields such as actuarial science, disaster risk management, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or environmental management.
• Apply for an eligible full-time postgraduate programme at one of ARC’s partner universities.
• Meet the admission requirements of the selected partner university.
• Have secured, or be in the process of obtaining, admission to an eligible programme.
• Commit to working in Africa for two years after graduation.
• Complete an internship, in accordance with programme requirements.

Scholarship Coverage and Study Focus

The ARC–GSSP Scholarship Programme provides selected scholars with extensive support. This comprehensive package includes:

• Full tuition coverage for up to two years of postgraduate study.
• A living stipend, travel support, and other eligible expenses.
• Opportunities for mentorship and career development.
• An internship opportunity through ARC Ltd. and its partner networks.

Eligible fields of study primarily include actuarial science, insurance, applied statistics, disaster risk management, mathematics, statistics, engineering, and environmental management. Study is undertaken at leading African partner universities in South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Ghana.
